Divus Augustus, died AD 14. Denarius (Subaeratus, 17 mm, 2.29 g, 5 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint, after 37. DIVV[S AVG] PATER PATRIAE Radiate head of Divus Augustus to right. Rev. [...]VSTI F COS D[...] Caius and Lucius standing facing, each togate and resting hand on shield; behind each shield a spear; between them, simpulum and lituus. Cf. BMC 10, Cohen 3 and RIC 10 (for obverse) and BMC 519, Cohen 43 and RIC 207 (for reverse). Scratches and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, good fine.

This interesting plated imitation combines an obverse of Divus Augustus struck under Caligula with a reverse of Augustus proper.
